Why This Exists

The quality of a leader's decisions is shaped by the quality of their perspective.

Most leaders are formed inside a single market, a single set of institutions and a single way of seeing. The decisions that follow are only as wide as that view. SOGL widens the view, deliberately and in person.

For one year, fellows live and learn inside the institutions where economic power, technology, capital and diplomacy are actually exercised. SOGL prepares future-ready global leaders who understand the interconnected forces shaping nations, economies, businesses and societies — and develop the judgment to lead within them.

This is not a break from work. It is an investment in doing better work.SOGL Programme Philosophy

Not an MBA

SOGL is experiential, not a classroom programme. There is no syllabus to sit through and no degree to collect for its own sake. The year is built around exposure, judgment and application.

Built for Family Enterprise

Leading a family enterprise carries a unique weight: legacy, ownership, succession and the responsibility of many people's livelihoods. Every module is read through that lens.

An Experiential Year

Fellows learn inside institutions, not in lecture halls — with the practitioners, regulators, diplomats and investors who shape the environment their enterprise operates in.

The Programme

Four domains. One enterprise.

The integrated PESTEL lens frames the enterprise question. Leadership, Global Diplomacy, Capital Markets and Emerging Technology build the capability to respond.

Leadership

Developing the judgment, self-awareness and ability to lead people, navigate succession and guide enterprise through change.

Global Diplomacy

Understanding power and the external environment in which every enterprise operates.

Capital Markets

Understanding how capital is created and deployed, and who decides where it goes.

Emerging Technology

Understanding how technological change alters the nature of enterprise itself.

The Capstone

A real deliverable for a real business.

  1. 1
    Identify the Question

A real strategic challenge, defined in week one and examined through the integrated PESTEL lens.

  2. 2
    Carry It Across Eight Cities

Develop capability across four domains and test assumptions with practitioners and institutions.

  3. 3
    Work With a Mentor

After Bangalore, refine the proposition through structured, framework-driven monthly conversations with a senior industry mentor.

  4. 4
    Present and Defend

Before a senior panel at a formal graduation event in India.

The Enterprise Capstone
Global exposure is the input. Stronger judgment and a practical enterprise proposition are the purpose.

What fellows return with

  • A boardroom-ready strategic proposition
  • Connected understanding of global forces
  • Stronger judgment on leadership, growth, capital, technology and risk
  • Practitioner, institution and cohort relationships
  • A continuing mentor relationship and lifelong SOGL alumni membership

The proposition is a basis for decision and action; implementation remains an enterprise decision.
